The Danger of Not Having Enough

Enough is a powerful word. It’s like saying No. To stop and take a pause from our desires will help us see where we are right now. Splendid examples are people who like to take huge financial risks to improve their status in the society. They are those who aren’t satisfied with their high status in life. They take the risk without assessing their situation or doing their proper research before making the financial decision.

Another example is our desire to upgrade every year. A few days ago Apple just launched their new set of products. People criticized them for what they did. However, even though they didn’t receive good feedback, people will still buy their products because of their brand. That’s the power of marketing and branding. However, when making choices like this, you should think twice before you do so. Do you really need it? Is the upgrade worth getting? What if you skip the new model this year and wait for next year? What if you use that money for other stuff you need?

Choices and questions like this can help have “enough.”

Society will influence you to never have a sense of enough because of the social comparisons. To avoid this, we need to have a better perspective in our life. Keep in mind that all of us are unique. Each one of us has unique experiences in life that lead us to where we are right now.

To quote the brilliant investor Warren Buffett, “To make money they didn’t have and didn’t need, they risked what they did have and did need. And that’s foolish. It is just plain foolish. If you risk something that is unimportant to you, it just does not make any sense.”

Keep in mind: There are many things in life that are never worth risking, no matter the potential gain. Having enough is okay, and it is great for you. Know your limits.
