The Dark Side of Technology

It's 2018, technology is evolving right in front of us. We have come a long way ever since the first mobile phone came out in 1973. The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) surprised some of us as well.
We didn't expect to talk to a computer to ask for directions, asking for weather updates, news etc.…
None of us also expected that we would be unlocking phones with our fingerprints and even our face.
Did you even expect that we would be riding a car with a complete stranger to get to a certain destination? Communication evolved as well, talking to other people who are on the other side of the world.
You might be wondering why finding a 9-5 job is getting harder as well because computers have already taken control of those tasks which saves labor and time.
Did you know that your phone right now is more powerful than the computers that were used to send a man to the moon in the 1960's?
Your computer is capable as well of creating a new version of reality. The car that you are driving might be capable of autopilot in the next 5 years.

You want to ask a question or set a reminder for your tasks? Just say
"Hey, Siri…."
"Ok, Google…"
"Alexa…"
This is the technology we have right now it's young and evolving but we need to be careful about how we are going to develop this thing.
Have you ever watched Black Mirror on Netflix?
It's a futuristic show about the technology that even our tech is so advanced it has unanticipated consequences.
If you haven't watched the show, you should do it now because it gives you a perspective on how the technology can ruin our lives with a simple mistake.
One-episode name "Nosedive" shows us a future about a society that thrives in a Ranking system. People judge you on what your ranking is whether it's a 5.0 or a 4.8 but once you rank down like a 2.8 you become an outcast.
I know that this is a TV show but we get our ideas or innovations on what we see. If somebody invents and implement this type of system what will happen to non-social people, will they become an outcast just because they don't socialize enough?
Throughout this show with consists of unanticipated consequences shows us that we need to be careful on how we evolve technology especially AI
Artificial Intelligence has a capability of ending our species. You might think that I'm exaggerating but it's true. If it becomes self-aware and sees the humans as a threat it could be our "Great Filter".
I'm writing this because our technology is young if we can develop it properly it can help us achieve a great future.
